A Thoughtful Approach to Care

Combining ancient wisdom and modern science through thoughtful, compassionate care.

Tempo was created to provide calm, structured, and individualized support for those seeking an integrative approach to chronic pain, nervous system regulation, recovery, and long-term well-being.

Care guided by respect for the nervous system, the interconnected nature of the body, and the individuality of the person.

Integrating acupuncture and photobiomodulation (PBMT) within a thoughtful, individualized model of care designed to support recovery, regulation, resilient function, and the body's natural capacity to adapt and heal.

Grounded in Clinical Experience

Tempo was created to offer calm, structured, and individualized care for those seeking a more thoughtful approach to health, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. Care is designed around careful listening, clinical reasoning, and respect for the complexity of each individual.

At Tempo, treatment is approached as a process rather than a quick intervention. Acupuncture, photobiomodulation (PBMT), and individualized treatment planning are integrated within a structured model that emphasizes pacing, consistency, reassessment, and thoughtful adaptation over time.

Judson Chaney, N.D., L.Ac. brings more than two decades of clinical experience in integrative medicine, including work within hospital-based integrative medicine and oncology settings. Tempo was shaped through years of observing the importance of creating therapeutic environments that support both clinical outcomes and the human experience of care.

The goal of treatment is not simply symptom suppression, but meaningful improvement in function, regulation, resilience, and quality of life. Care at Tempo is designed to support sustainable progress while respecting the nervous system, the interconnected nature of the body, and the individuality of the person.

The Tempo Approach

Pacing

Care at Tempo is designed around the understanding that many chronic conditions require thoughtful pacing, consistency, and time. Treatment recommendations are guided not only by symptoms, but by how the nervous system and individual respond throughout the process of care.

Reassessment

Rather than following rigid protocols alone, care is continually reassessed and adapted over time. Tempo’s approach emphasizes careful observation, communication, and gradual progression to support sustainable and meaningful improvement.

Therapeutic Rhythm

The name Tempo reflects the importance of rhythm, timing, and therapeutic pacing in the healing process. The goal is to create a structured yet flexible environment where patient and practitioner can move through care together with clarity, consistency, and mutual understanding.

What to Expect

Care at Tempo begins with careful listening, thoughtful assessment, and a structured approach designed around the individual.

Initial Consultation

Care begins with a comprehensive consultation focused on understanding clinical history, symptoms, functional limitations, goals, and prior treatment experiences , while creating space to understand the individual more fully.

Individualized Treatment Planning

Treatment recommendations are guided by ongoing reassessment, response to care, pacing, and the evolving needs of the individual rather than rigid protocols alone.

Consistency and Reassessment

Many chronic conditions benefit from consistency, careful observation, and gradual progression over time. Tempo’s program-based model is designed to support structured care while allowing flexibility, responsiveness, and thoughtful clinical adjustment over time.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the primary tools used at Tempo to support recovery, regulation, resilient function, and the body's natural capacity to adapt and heal. Care is individualized and integrated within a broader model that emphasizes careful listening, pacing, reassessment, and meaningful functional improvement over time.

At Tempo, acupuncture is used to help influence the nervous system, support circulation, reduce pain sensitivity, and encourage the body’s natural capacity to regulate and recover. Treatment is guided by both clinical experience and the individual response of each patient.

Acupuncture may be helpful for people navigating chronic pain, headaches, musculoskeletal tension, injury recovery, stress-related symptoms, nerve dysfunction, and the desire to maintain function and mobility over time.

Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all protocols, acupuncture at Tempo is part of a structured and responsive care process. It may be used alongside photobiomodulation (PBMT), education, and reassessment to support recovery, resilience, and long-term participation in life.

Light Therapy

Photobiomodulation (PBMT), often called light therapy, is one of the primary tools used at Tempo to support recovery, adaptation, and healthy function. Using specific wavelengths of light, PBMT is designed to help support the body's natural healing processes at the cellular level.

At Tempo, PBMT is not used as a stand-alone technology, but as part of a broader care model that emphasizes careful listening, pacing, reassessment, and individualized treatment planning. Light therapy is integrated thoughtfully alongside acupuncture and other supportive strategies based on each person's needs and goals.

Research suggests PBMT may help support recovery from musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain conditions, nerve-related symptoms, headaches, inflammation, and physical stress. Many people also seek care to support performance, healthy aging, recovery from activity, and maintaining function over time.

The goal is not simply symptom management, but helping people recover, adapt, and continue participating fully in life. Treatment recommendations are guided by both clinical experience and ongoing reassessment throughout the process of care.

Advanced Light Therapy Technology

Tempo utilizes a professional photobiomodulation system employed in university medical centers, professional sports organizations, military rehabilitation environments, and specialized recovery settings.

The technology itself is only one part of the process. Meaningful outcomes depend upon thoughtful integration with assessment, treatment planning, patient education, and ongoing reassessment over time.

Meet Judson

Judson Chaney, N.D., L.Ac.

Founder, Tempo Acupuncture and Light Therapy

My interest in healing began as a patient long before it became my profession.

For more than twenty years, I have worked with individuals facing chronic pain, neurological conditions, injury recovery, cancer treatment side effects, and many other complex health challenges.

My career has included private practice, hospital-based integrative medicine, and more than a decade working within a large healthcare system. Those experiences ultimately led me to create Tempo, a practice built around thoughtful care, meaningful relationships, and the belief that healing takes time.

At Tempo, I combine acupuncture, photobiomodulation (light therapy), careful reassessment, and individualized treatment plans designed around each person's goals and circumstances.

Some arrive because they are suffering. Some arrive because they want to keep doing what they love. Some arrive seeking support, guidance, or a different path forward. Each person arrives with a different story. All are welcome at Tempo.
